Elder Abuse Awareness

America is getting older. The baby boomer generation is aging and have made up a major segment of society. Baby Boomers are starting to account for the major population in the United States over the age of 65. The decision makers of the United States are getting older.

As Americans get older a new crime has been awakened and is starting to increase. The crime of abusing the elderly happens to one out of every 10 seniors. Elder abuse is defined as any intentional or negligent act by a caregiver that causes harm or risk of harm to an elderly adult. Many of these cases of abuse will not be reported and the abuse will continue. The trend of reporting elder abuse is increasing so that one day it hopes that Elder abuse will be in the spotlight and not hid behind the door of the elderly.
