RumbaTime review and giveaway

Last weekend we changed time where I lived and this weekend I introduce you to the hottest new watch on the market today. Featured in many popular magazines it is the watch that is very easy to wear and looks great as well. As a member of the nursing field I needed a watch that I could wear and not have to worry about the water from washing my hands destroying it. The rumba watch is water resistant and comes in a great variety of colors so that you can choose the perfect one for you.

A Bit About the Company RumbaTime

Joe, Drew and Jay were all best friends in college who shared a love for adventure. They believed in living life to the fullest and wanted to discover all they could as they traveled life's path. RumbaTime began with the idea of allowing time to keep up with ones busy life by creating weightless silicone watches that simply feel like second skin. RumbaTime watches are smooth, bright, water resistant and durable and complement most any life style with their colors being as diverse as their personalities. RhumbaTime travels by the slogan:
GO LOUD. GO SIMPLE. DO WHAT YOU DO, & DARE PEOPLE TO WATCH.

Review:
We were lucky enough to receive a RumbaTime piece to review and share with you my readers here on Annies Home. I received the watch and was happy to see that it slipped on like a bracelet and reminded me of a jelly bracelet. The look and feel of it took me back to the 80s and its simplicity of life. The watch was easy to set and in just in case I needed it came with instructions on how to use it. I was very  impressed with the look, feel and ability to use of the RumbaTime.

Giveaway:
RumbaTime would like to give one of Annies Home readers the chance to try one for their self. To enter this giveaway visit the RumbaTime website at http://www.rumbatime.com and let me know what color you would choose if you were the winner

Quick and Easy Doughnuts

3/4 cup vegetable oil

1 8-count package large refrigerated biscuits (such as Pillsbury Grands)

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Heat ½ cup of the oil in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Place the biscuits on a cutting board. Using a 1-inch round cookie cutter or shot glass, cut a hole in the center of each biscuit, reserving the extra dough for "holes." Test the heat of the oil by dipping the edge of a doughnut in the pan. When the oil is hot enough, the edge will bubble. Place 4 of the doughnuts and holes in the skillet and cook until golden brown, 1 to 1½ minutes per side. Transfer to a wire rack or paper towel–lined plate to drain. Add the remaining oil to the skillet, reheat, and cook the remaining doughnuts and holes. In a large bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Gently toss the warm doughnuts in the mixture a few at a time. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Ham and Cheese Canneloni

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole-milk ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 large egg

8 egg-roll wrappers (available in the refrigerated section)

8 slices deli ham

1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese

Lighten up!

Use whole milk instead of heavy cream; and skim-milk ricotta and low-fat mozzarella in place of whole-milk cheeses.

Preheat the oven to 400°. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour until smooth. Slowly whisk in the heavy cream and cook, stirring continuously, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Set the cream sauce aside; then stir in the salt. In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta and mozzarella and the egg. Spread a thin layer of the cream sauce (about 11/2 cups) in the bottom of a 9-by-9-inch baking dish. Arrange an egg-roll wrapper on a work surface. Spread 3 tablespoons of the ricotta mixture over the wrapper, cover with a slice of ham, then roll up to form a log, jelly-roll style. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and place the cannelloni, seam side down, in a single layer in the baking dish. Spoon the remaining cream sauce over the cannelloni, top with the Parmigiano-Reggiano and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.

Irish Potato Soup

The letter of the day is I and no better time for the letter I than right before the Irish Holiday St. Patricks Day. Do you all know who St. Patrickn was? The story goes that St. Patrick is the reason that there aren't any snakes in Iresland because he chased them all out. But there is even more to St. Patrick than the story of the snakes there is also the story of how he shared the trinity of the father, son and holy spirit through a shamrock.

Iresland

Irish Potato Soup
•2 tablespoons of Irish butter

•2 medium sized onions

•3 large potatoes, washed & peeled

•1 cube chicken bouillon

•2 cups of milk

•1 clove garlic, crushed

•1 teaspoon dried parsley

•3 pieces of celery, chopped

•1 pinch ground black pepper & salt

•1 ½ cup of grated cheese

Thinly slice the onions and potatoes and add to a pan with melted Irish butter. Add the chicken bouillon, celery, dried parsley, garlic and season with salt & pepper. Cover the pan allowing the vegetables to soften under a low heat, do not let them brown. Add milk and mix until soup becomes thick then stir in cheese until fully melted. Serve piping hot with a few slices of buttered bread and enjoy. Irish potato soup is extremely cheap and easy to make which makes it a great dish to cook and serve to family and friends.

Soar book review

Many may think that living in God's power means that life is constricted and no fun. The truth is that it can be a thrilling freedom. It is not easy to live faithfully for Jesus and even Jesus' disciples knew this. Men trying to live for Jesus often find their selves in life dilemma it is through the "holy spirit" that  they get comfort and assurance. The Holy Spirit is often misunderstood by both Christians and those that are not. Since it is hard to follow something that we can not see it takes faith to follow and believe. In the same aspect many Christians know the feeling that we just simply can explain. It is the feeling over joyment and appreciation it is the "Holy Spirit" and believe me it is a super feeling. Kenny Luck the author of  the book "Soar" shares the Holy Spirit in a modern manner for the Christian man. Kenny Luck is a men's pastor and church leader want to help spread the excitement of the Holy Spirit. In hopes of putting excitement into the old bland faith and feeding the hunger that has been present to empower the spread of Christ through out the world. The book has been designed so that the book can be read alone as a devotion or used in small group discussions. As the mother of sons my frustration was that many men leave their faith alone to the world and I for one am a mother who wants my sons to embrace their faith and the Holy Spirit and share it with all they meet. Soar is the book that will help them do just that.

Perfect Dinner for St. Patricks Day

1 3-pound piece corned beef brisket (with spice packet, if included)

1 pound carrots, peeled and cut into 3-inch lengths

1 12-ounce bottle amber ale

3/4 pound Brussels sprouts

1/2 cup sour cream

2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard

1 tablespoon chopped fresh tarragon

In a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker, place the beef, the contents of the spice packet (if included), carrots, and ale. Cook, covered, until the beef is tender, on high for 4 to 5 hours or on low for 7 to 8 hours. Ten minutes before serving, thinly slice the Brussels sprouts. (This is easiest to do in a food processor with the slicing blade.) Transfer the beef from the slow cooker to a cutting board; if the slow cooker is on the low setting, turn it to high. Add the Brussels sprouts to the carrots and liquid in the slow cooker. Cook, covered, until the Brussels sprouts are tender, 4 to 6 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the sour cream, mustard, and tarragon. Slice the beef. Serve with the vegetables and sour cream sauce.
