Importance of Fiber

It seems that in America with all the great food available that we would all be in great shape. Wrong!!!

One area that is in focus in February is fiber. Fiber is important for both our health and daily comfort in life. Americans are currently consuming less than 3% of the recommended daily intake amount of fiber needed. Neither women or men are doing great at eating the proper amount of fiber. Perhaps knowing what fiber does for the body will help your intake of fiber

Fiber is known to keep your digestive system functioning smoothly. That is not the only thing that fiber does for the body.

  • helps you feel full helping to reduce that hunger feeling leading to snack attacks. 
  • helps the body burn fat
  • helps balance your blood sugar levels by slowing rate of digestion. Helps cut cravings 
  • helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels and boost heart health by helping to lower your blood pressure and decrease markers of inflammation in the body
What gluten free foods have fiber in them?? 
  • split peas
  • lentils are full of both protein and fiber. Great source for vegetarians and carnivores alike
  • Raspberries are packed full of fiber and antioxidants. They can help protect your cells from aging and disease 
  • Oatmeal filling and good for the health. Hefty dose of fiber, lean protein and healthy fats all make oatmeal very nutritious. 
  • Blackberries are full of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Helps prevent variety of diseases
  • Avocados considered a superfood contains fiber, vitamins and inflammation-fighting omega 3 fatty acids. 
  • black beans
  • broccoli is a powerhouse full of fiber, vitamins and minerals Helps detox the body as well as fight disease 
It's time to get a bit of fiber into your diet. Grow slowly but grow that is the most important thing
