Grapefruits

Grapefruits were discovered in the 18th century. A cross between pummelo and sweet orange grapefruits are primarily born in the Americas. Grapefruits in the beginning growth resemble grape like clusters on trees. Perhaps that is how grapefruits gained their name.



Grapefruits have been thought to be a miracle fat burner. The truth is that grapefruits are part of a healthy diet. The lower calorie density as well as the vitamins  packed inside the grapefruit make the tasty fruit good for all. Half of most adult's daily vitamin C requirements can be reached by eating 1/2 of a medium grapefruit no matter the color - red, pink or white.



Health Benefits From Grapefruits Include:


  • Strengthens Immune System ==== any fruit rich in vitamin C can help strengthen and support the immune system Building a good immune system can help reduce the severity of cold symptoms and helps control allergies as well. 
  • Boosts Metabolism and helps to burn fat in the body even when it is in rest. Eating 1/2 of a grapefruit before each meal with no other diet changes helps one lose around 3 1/2 lbs every 12 weeks. The grapefruits high water content and less sodium can help burn fat. 
  • The bitter taste of grapefruit is caused by Naringenin. It is the same naringenin that helps prevent the formation of kidney cysts. The natural compound regulates the PKD2 protein that causes the cysts to form. The chemical also helps reduce swelling in the kidneys caused by fluid retention. 
  • Eating grapefruit can help reverse damage caused by gum disease. Reduction of gum bleeding caused by gum disease can be decreased as well.
