John Winston Ono Lennon was born October 9 1940. He was a singer, songwriter, musician, and activist as well as co-founder of the Beatles. The Beatles were successful and musically influential and was top commercially successful band in popular music history. Paul McCartney the partner to John Lennon together celebrated song-writing.
Lennon was born and raised in Liverpool England. As a teenager he formed his first band the Quarrymen. The name later was changed to Silver Beatles and then shortened to the Beatles in 1960. Ten years later the band disbanded. Lennon started a solo career with songs such as "Give Peace a Chance" "Working Class Hero" and "Imagine"
In 1969 John married Yoko Ono. John Lennon added "Ono" as a middle name of his. In 1975 John Lennon became a full time father to his son Sean. In 1980 Ono sang with John in the new album Double Fantasy.
John Lennon was shot and killed in front of his Manhattan apartment in 1980. He had a rebellious sort of nature and an incredible wit in his music, writing, drawings, as well as on film. John Lennon was very controversial in his political thoughts. He was a peace activist and critical of the Vietnam War. The Nixon administration once tried to deport him.
