Prostate Cancer Awareness

During the month of September there is an effort to bring awareness to prostate cancer. This type of cancer occurs in the prostate. The prostate is a small gland located near the bladder and helps make the fluid that carries sperm. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. men. When diagnosed early there is nearly 100 percent survival of 5 years.



Prostate cancer is most top cancer diagnosis for men it is the second leading cause of cancer in men as well. One in every 7 men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in the United States. It is estimated that 1 man is diagnosed with prostate cancer every 3 years.



Men who are older, smoke and eat a lot of red meat have an increased risk of having this condition. The primary symptom of prostate cancer is frequent urination, difficulty starting to urinate or pain while urinating. Serious symptoms such as bone pain occur in advanced stages.
