Heavenly Hash Fruit Salad #Recipe

2 cups whipping cream

1 can crushed pineapple or pineapple tidbits

2 large cans mandarin oranges

1 can fruit cocktail

1 bag of mini marshmallows

1. Freeze the mixing bowl for 20 minutes before whipping the cream.
2. Add 1 tablespoon of pineapple juice from the can to the whipping cream as you whip it.
3. Stop when soft peaks form.
4. Drain the juice for all the cans of fruit and combine in a large bowl.
5. Add the bag of marshmallows.
6. Then, fold in the whipped cream.
7. Cover and put in the fridge until ready to serve.

BLT Wrapup

1 cup mayonnaise  
1/2 cup dried tomatoes in oil, drained and chopped
8 (10-inch) flour tortillas
1 large head iceberg lettuce, chopped
1 medium onion, thinly sliced (optional)
16 bacon slices, cooked and crumbled
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper

 

Combine mayonnaise and tomatoes in a small bowl. Spread evenly over 1 side of each tortilla, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Layer lettuce, onions, and bacon evenly over tortillas; sprinkle with salt and pepper
Roll up tortillas; cut in half diagonally, and secure with wooden pick.

My favorite part of February used to be my sisters birthday but this past year she passed and this year it most likely be one of the saddest days for me

A little known fact about me is that I am scared of the dark. I believe my entire family is as we all like to have just a bit of light where ever we are not sure what is in the dark

No Bake Lemon Pie

• 
  
• cup sugar
• 3 Tbs. cornstarch
• 3 large eggs
• 1 5-oz. can fat-free evaporated milk
• 1 cup lemon juice
• 1 Tbs. lemon zest
• 3 Tbs. unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
• 1 9-inch prepared graham cracker crust

Combine sugar and cornstarch in bowl. Set aside. Whisk together eggs and evaporated milk in another bowl. Add lemon juice, lemon zest and sugar-cornstarch mixture to eggs; whisk to combine. Transfer to saucepan.

Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly. Continue to cook 3 minutes, whisking constantly, or until mixture has thickened and whisk strokes leave defined lines in mixture. Remove from heat, and whisk in butter until melted. Press lemon curd through sieve into bowl to eliminate any lumps.

Pour curd into graham cracker crust. Cool on wire rack, and chill well before serving. Decorate with fresh or candied lemon slices, if desired.

Radon Awareness

There are many dangerous things that can be found in our homes. But when that something can not be seen or tasted but still is dangerous for all those around then a special awareness is needed. That is why January is helping to bring awareness to a naturally occurring radioactive gas known as Radon. Radon is released from the element radium and can be found in rocks, soil and water. 

Radon is the second highest cause of lung cancer worldwide. Each year more than 20,000 deaths in the United States are caused by Radon. There seems to be no escaping this dangerous material as it naturally occurs in the form of a radioactive gas that is produced when elements such as uranium in the earths rocks and soils decays. When this occurs radon can contaminate ground and well water. When a residence is located above where radon is found the entire house becomes radioactive through cracks between concrete between the floor and wall junctions, gaps in tiles on the floor, small drains and even sump pumps. In addition, if these homes remain locked up and are not allowed to air out the extent of radon accumulates

There are things that you can do to lower the risk of radon in your home. These tips include:

•  make sure there is a tightly sealed door between the basement or cellar and first floor you can increase under floor ventilation
• request information concerning radon concentration from your local water supply company. 
• have your home inspected for radon or test it yourself

Constipation

We have all had that belly ache and be unable to use the bathroom. One common reason is due to constipation. The infrequent passage of stool leading to the incomplete evacuation defines constipation. The results of constipation are often straining, hard stools, small stools which all must leave but are a struggle to do so. Constipation may also be accompanied by diarrhea and may be a result of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Perhaps the worst type of constipation is impaction of fecal. 

Diarrhea may occur with constipation as the fluid from your colon may accompany a harder stool. Do not allow the lack of a bowel movement have you believe that you are constipated as some individuals do not have a bowel movement daily and age also slows down the number of bowel movements. Severe constipation should be defined as having only one or fewer bowel movements a week. In addition, irregular bowel movements have been known to lead to cancer 

The reason an individual has constipation can have a variety of reasons. One of the most prevailing one is often caused by indigestion that leads to slow passage of digesting food or problem in the digestive system. Other reasons include irritable bowel syndrome, hypothyroid, spinal cord injury, and diabetes. Perhaps I should say there are a great amount of reasons that constipation occurs ranging from diet, lack of exercise, food we eat and the list goes on

So know that you know what constipation is I know you want it no more than me so here are some ways to get rid of it.

Making Laundry Less of a Chore

As we all know working in a room that is neat is easier to work in a room that is not. This also includes the laundry room. I know we have all been a bit frazzled before when we are getting the laundry done that things get a bit messed up. There are some ways to keep the room organized and decorated so that doing laundry will feel pleasant and not such a chore. Here are a few tips that you can use to organize the laundry room

• Keep your detergents, bleach and other laundry essentials out of the way but in reach. Tidying up can make the room feel more organized. An easy way to do this is to use a bookshelf or if you do not have enough room consider using  drawers on wheels. Be a bit creative with your choices to make it a bit personal.
•  Sorting the clothes is also an area that looks into. Dirty clothes need sorted and this can take up a bit of time. Keeping designated laundry bins will help you keep sections such as colors, whites, delicates and specified with labels. 
• There are always those items that need to be air dried. Whether it be the sports jersey, clothes that can not go in dryer or whatever it is a need for air drying is needed. An easy way to do this is via a rack easily mounted to the wall.

Hashbrown Casserole #recipe

6 slices center cut bacon
2/3 of a package of frozen hashbrowns

1/4 cup white onion - diced
4oz fat free cream cheese
1/4 cup light sour cream
1/4 fat free chicken broth
1/4 green onion

1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika
salt and pepper
1 cup 2% cheddar cheese - shredded
5 whole wheat ritz crackers
Preheat oven to 400.

In a skilllet cook bacon. Drain grease from pan and cook potatoes and onion on medium high heat until heated through.

Meanwhile mix the next 8 ingredients with crumbled bacon, reserving 1/2 of the cheddar cheese. Mix with potatoes and onions and spread into a greased baking dish Top with remaing cheese and crushed crackers. Bake until cheese is bubbly.

Makes 6 servings at about 300 calories each

if I can stay inside I think it is very pretty if I have to go out I do not care for it as much as I did when I was a child

some of the same things as any season like car riding, but when I was younger loved making angels in the snow, snow men , having snowball fights etc...

Kids being able to enjoy the snow and me making a big batch of soup or chili

Chili, Soup, Stew, Roast, all top the list
