Safety Tips for Kids with Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by sudden and recurring seizures resulting in loss of consciousness and convulsions. It affects men and women of all ages.
If you are ever around someone having a seizure the most important thing to do is stay calm. While seizures may seem scary most seizures only last less than 2 minutes. The most important thing to do is to protect the individual from injuring their self.
Epilepsy does not only affect men and women but children are affected as well. When a child has a problem the world to me seems even more important. Both children and parents may be terrified dealing with epilepsy. Practicing safety measures is very important.

Bathtubs and swimming areas can be especially dangerous for children to be near. Keeping children with possibility of having seizures around from any potentially dangerous situations such as cooking, bathing or swimming.
Parents should alert students teacher and school administrators about child's epilepsy and seizures in case it would happen at school.
