Juliette Gordon Low the founder of the Girl Scouts was born on this day in 1860 She was born in Savannah Georgia She was nicknamed Daisy as a young girl. (I know understand why the younger girls troop are called Daisies). She became involved with the girl guides in 1911 and in 1912 she led a group of 18 children to start up the first U.S. troop of Girl Guides. Juliette was one of the first organizations for girls to not discriminate and offered all the chance including girls with disabilities the chance for girls to get into the wilderness to learn self reliance and resourcefulness. Girl Scouts started with 18 original members and has now grown to 3.7 members. Girl Scouts is now the largest organization for girls in the world and has influenced more than 50 million individuals.Juliette Gordon Low the original leader and creator of the Girl Scouts died January 17, 1927
