The Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down to Georgia

Perhaps you have heard of the name Charlie Daniels before. I know to me I have been a fan of his since childhood. This was not easy as my parents did not like him because as Christians they thought he led a bad example. However, Daniels was a great musician and it turns out a great man as well.

Earlier today it was reported that Charlie Daniels left this Earth after suffering a stroke.

Born Charles Edward Daniels on October 28th, 1936 he grew up in Wilmington North Carolina. His family was very musical and he had chances to practice music at the Pentecostal church as well as local bluegrass bands. Charlie enjoyed the rhythm & blues of country music that he would listen to on the radio. Perhaps you would be interested in finding out more about his early life and you can do this by reading the forward of the book Tobacco State League.

After graduation from high school Charlie Daniels would form a band

He would thru his band gain the opportunity to play with other stars like Elvis Presley. Thus helping to seal his fate as a famous musician not just a singer but a fiddle player as well. Charlie Daniels was inducted into the Cheyenne Frontier Days Hall of Fame in 2002,[7] the Grand Ole Opry in 2008,[8] the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009,[9] and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.[10]

  3. Anne,

I grew up listening to Charlie Daniels, too. I had the impression with his famous song title that perhaps he was a rebel and maybe he was a little like all of us but he was a good guy. He was a conservative which makes him better an alright fella in my book. ;) He was a legend and great mewsician! Thanks for the tribute to the man. Prayers to the Daniels family!

  5. I am not huge into southern rock but Charlie Daniels was one of a kind and he sure did play a mean fiddle. It may be heresy, but this isn't my favorite Charlie Daniels song. Some things, you just can't explain...
