The original book was published in 1818. The first story the monster was not given a name and was only referred to as "Frankenstein's Monster" but over the years the name shortened to "Frankenstein" the last name of his creator Scientist Victor Frankenstein. The scientist had built his monster from collection of body parts from dead people and was brought to life with electricity. The thought behind creating such a being was to help humanity, however the monster brought fear from the crowds and was mistreated by them as well. When Victor Frankenstein seen the experiment going awry but the monster instead killed his creator.
Mary Shelley was the author of the original horror novel that was published in 1818. Since that time Frankenstein has been featured in many movies, television programs and cartoons. The t.v. show The Munsters a comedy series from 1964=1966 featured Frankenstein as Herman.
