Homemade Crouton #recipe

Summer time is the perfect time for salads. Much of the ingredients are in season and may be as local as your back yard garden. These homemade croutons are easy to make and are perfect for any salad you choose.

2 pieces of bread - cut into 1 inch cubes
2 tablespoons grapeseed or olive oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
1/8 teaspoon salt
pepper to taste - I do about 5 twists of a pepper grinder

Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
Toss together the bread and spices in a bowl.
Toss in the oil until well distributed - make sure the bread is evenly moistened.
Spread the bread cubes out evenly onto the baking sheet. Bake for 6 minutes until crispy on the outside but still slightly soft on the inside.
Let cool and add a handful in with a salad.
Store any leftovers in an airtight jar on the counter.
