Because of the stigma of AIDS many do not know or want to know much about it. That in itself is a problem as education is the key step to prevent spread of the disease. Contacting HIV / AIDS is a question in most minds. The top answers to that question are:
- unprotected sex
- from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding
- injecting drugs with a needle that has infected blood in it
- infected blood donations or organ transplants
- a healthcare worker who gets the blood of an infected patient inside their body.
Now that we know how HIV / AIDS can be contacted how do we protect ourselves??
The goal is to find a cure. Research is currently being conducted on the search for a cure. National AIDS Awareness Month helps get the word out, fix some misunderstandings and push for research for a cure.
