Cervical Cancer Awareness

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. I have posted about how you can help spread awareness, the importance of getting a cervical screening and about the HPV immunization The reason for sharing is easy I am the mother of three beautiful daughters, the daughter of one awesome mother and the friend of many many others. All of these ladies have the chance of suffering from Cervical Cancer. We must use our knowledge to make others aware of the disease, the importance of screening and prevention, treatment options and resources that offer help and information about cervical cancer.

Are you aware of what a cervix is?? It is the part of the body that connects the uterus (womb) to the vagina (birth canal)

In the United States more than 11,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year. There will be 4,000 deaths due to the disease. HPV or Human Papillomovirus are linked to cervical cancer. HPV also shares several high risk types of HPV that contributes to cancer. There are currently vaccines that are designed to prevent infection with high risk types of HPV These immunizations help to greatly reduce the occurrence of cervical cancer.

It is our duty as ladies and those that love ladies to stay up to date with information that is shared about cervical cancer.
