Happy Birthday Buddy
Buddy Holly one of the greatest singers from his day and time and I personally still love this beautiful song Great beat. Buddy would have celebrated his birthday on this day the 7th of September. The sad thing is that Buddy was not able to celebrate that many birthdays being tragically killed at an early age.

Thanks For The Mail
Today is a day that my dad would have taken his hat off to and been very proud of. My dad was a rural mail carrier and took pride in his work and the folks that he met. Why would my dad think this day is cool is because today is dedicated to all postal workers.
The reason is because today is the day for Neither Rain Nor Snow Day
"Neither snow nor rain not heat, nor gloom of night, stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
This slogan has long been attributed to the United States Postal Service, honoring mail carriers. In fact, the quotation was inscribed on the outside of the James Farley Post Office , New York City's primary postal location, which was dedicated on September 7, 1914.
As a result, September 7th has become known as Neither Rain Nor Sleet Day, or Postal Workers Day.
It seems the U.S. Postal Service has no official slogan. The "neither rain nor sleet" quote actually came from an ancient Greek work, Histories, by Herodotus. However, the saying has been unofficially linked to the U.S.P.S. for generations.
September 7th is a positively postal holiday, recognizing the devotion of those who deliver the mail, day after day, in all sorts of climates and conditions.

Do You Know Why We Celebrate Labor Day
Labor Day, always the first Monday in September, was created by and for the labor movement. It is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It celebrates the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well being of our country. The first years it was celebrated was in 1885 and 1886. The first state bill was introduced in New York legislature, but the first to be passed was in Oregon on February 21, 1887. Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York followed behind quickly creating the Labor day holiday. By 1894 4 other states Connecticut, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania had joined in the chime. By June 28, 1894 congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday.
Labor Day. The first governmental recognition came through municipal ordinances passed during 1885 and 1886. From these, a movement developed to secure state legislation. During the year four more states — Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York — created the Labor Day holiday by legislative enactment. By the end of the decade Connecticut, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania had followed suit. By 1894, 23 other states had adopted the holiday in honor of workers, and on June 28 of that year, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday in the District of Columbia and the territories.
