If you have been a reader of mine long then you should know about my grand-daughter that I her nana nicknamed Princess. Princess has been the light of my life for 4 years now. We have went through many favorite characters through those 4 short years and while we still love many recently she asked me to find her a mermaid. Now I believe that she heard about mermaids at school and as usual nana was going to get my little Princess what she wanted. I was delighted when I found out about the new Aurora World Inc. line of Sea Sparkles. Yes!!! There must be more than one little girl that loves mermaids. As I viewed over the awesome variety of Sea Sparkles I realized that Aurora had put together an awesome collection from big mermaids to small mermaids and even the one that I selected for our little princess the purse lover.

Our Thoughts:

we loved the doll that we were able to review. I must say that our Princess loved her as well. The only thing that she wanted was to put her in the pool. Since she was a mermaid Princess thought that she should be able to go swim in the pool with her. So make sure that your little one has knowledge of the fact that this little mermaid is there to look super cute because she does but not to go in the water.  We love the construction of this super cute mermaid she was constructed well.

Hero From My Home Town

The Drummer Boy of Shiloh, Edward L. Hagar saw the troops marching down the main street of White Hall. He went home and made a pack and left for Camp Carrollton to join up. This story was told to us when we were young, I wonder if anyone ever talks about this young man and his service to our country. Another hero from "where we live."

Edward L. Hagar was a member of Company A 61st Illinois I...nfantry. He enlisted November 12, 1861, as a drummer boy; was wounded in the arm at Shiloh, or Plattsburg Landing, Tenn., on April 7, 1862, died of his wound May 30 at his home in White Hall, Ill., aged 14 years, 9 months, 26 days (according to official record) and was buried in the old cemetery at that place in the southwest part of the city on Carlinville street, east of Hancock street.

Frog Jumping Day

Today May 19, is the day set up just for the frog jumping jubilee day. Oh yes you heard me right. Have you ever been to a frog jumping event? I love to see them as sometimes they jump the other way, sometimes they jump right to the finish line and other times well they just sit there.

Want to have a bit of fun with frogs that may or may not have a real frog involved? Then try these super cute frog cupcakes.

Frog Cupcakes Recipe

2 cups green frosting
24 gumdrops, green
24 cupcakes, cooked and prepared for frosting
black decorating gel
48 white chocolate chips

Ice cupcakes with green frosting. Slice gumdrops in half (Note: If you have a Lammes Candies around you, they also have these green sours you can buy in bulk that work if you cannot find gumdrops). Push one white chocolate chip piece into the bottom edge of the sticky part of the gumdrop, you want the point of the chip to stick in there. Place gumdrops on cupcake like the frog’s eyes and use the black icing to make a dot for the pupil. Note: You can also use blue frosting and have it look like the frog is coming out of the water.
