Six word Saturday

After the long cold winter I am now enjoying the warmer weather. No frozen water and my feet are no longer cold so my 6 word saturday sentence is:

I am enjoying this warm weather

Small Talk 6:

Today’s topic is “6 pieces of clothing or accessories you’ve owned, loved, and wished would come back in style.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc

of course I would also like the body that I had back then before any children.
I used to love my parachute pants. I had a couple of different pairs of them and loved them

I sometimes wish leg warmers were still in style because now days my calfs get so cold if they were in style I would have no problem with pulling a pair on

Me and my friends loved those off the shoulder sweatshirts they were not only comfortable but made us look cool as well.

I remember taking my fathers long sleeve white shirt out of my fathers closet and wearing it with a small shirt underneath as well. It was the messy but neat way to look cool in the 1980s

Denim which is still sort of in fashion was big in the 1980s. With denim jackets and blue jeans

I can also remember the girls wearing belly shirts and short shorts it was on more than one occasion that we got in trouble for this one

Saturday 6

1. You’re at an Italian restaurant on a first date: how do you eat your spaghetti: do you cut it with the folk or roll it onto the tines? (And eating something else isn’t an option!)

I would cut it of course or eat it together in one plate like they do on the movies so that our lips will meet in a kiss

2. You’ve prepared a nice soup for dinner when you happen to hear a news story that bay leaves, even after being cooked, are sharp enough to tear internal organs when eaten whole. (It’s true.) Do you fish them out of your masterpiece, warn your guests in advance not to eat them, or just assume everyone knows to not eat the extra greenery?

Hang a big sign up that says "not responsible for injuries if you are silly enough to eat the green"

3. You’re having dinner at a nice restaurant with a group of friends and acquaintances. The sauce of your main course is the best you’ve ever tasted. You’ve eaten most of the dish, but you’ve got part of a roll and some sauce left. Do you sop up a little sauce for one more taste?

Well are we close friends if we are then we are almost family and of course I would, if they are people I have just met I have trouble eating in front of new people so this would never happen

4. This time, you’re at a seafood restaurant with folks you don’t know as well. Do you order a crab or lobster, a dish that would involve a lot of shell-cracking and a potential minor mess, or do you stick with something cleaner like a nice grilled fillet?

I stick to something cleaner of course have you ever seen me when I eat seafood

5. You’re invited to a cookout by a friend, but when you get there, you discover that the main thing being cooked, that everyone else is a big fan of, is something you don’t like. Would you still eat a serving to be neighborly, or try to talk your way out of that one dish?

This has truely happened before because my friends are all hunters and before being married I never ate any wild meat so everything is new to me

6. You’re back at a seafood restaurant with friends. Unknowingly, you order a fish that is served whole, head and all. Do you send it back or just deal with it?

No it goes back if it can look at me I am not eating it.

Tips for Happy Marriage

I subscribed to a newsletter located at http://www.foryourmarriage.org/marriage_tips.asp quite some time ago and I have to say that I love many of their tips. So I thought I might just start sharing the tips on my blog with you.

Resolving an argument: Strategy #1 CONCEDE. If the issue is really important to one partner and not to the other, consider this a gift to your spouse that will be returned in time. Tomorrow: #2

wow can you imagine if we just said o.k. enough this is important to you and not to me perhaps we could see it your way. All though that does not happen all the time at my own home I believe that you have to pick and choose your battles.

7 Quick Take Friday

  1. Well, the pipes that shattered during the long cold front are being repaired. I actually was able to take a warm shower and today will be able to do laundry as well. I must say it is odd how life goes because now that I have not did laundry for the past 11 days I am so ready to wash, dry and fold those clothes
  2. The dreadful cold that we had last week has now been relpaced with some beautiful warm weather. I love the warm weather not only because my feet are warm but also because my son who runs no matter the weather can stay warm and dry
  3. I am proud of Southern Illinois as they are currently forming teams to help Haiti. The devastation that they see first hand and we see on T.V. is terrible. Is there anything that you can do? Yes, you can offer prayers for those in Haiti as well as make a donation. If you are not able to go help yourself then donate there are several great ways that you can do this.
  4. I am very happy that my children are happy in their social lives. I just wonder a bit of what Valentines day will be like. My daughter and my son are actually not currently dating but they have their romantic interest. I just wonder if these interest will spark to something more. While they are both 17 and 18 and plenty old enough to have a friendship I will be there to remind of guidelines and open conversation lines.
  5. I am currently watching the T.V. show the doctors and really suprised of all they are showing. The cedar bath they are showing is like taking a bath in sawdust but they say much more comfortable. I have family that owned a saw mill and must say that I am not sure what that would be like
  6. Have you all been able to visit my daughters blog as of yet? She is sharing lots of pictures of Princess, recipes, tips and lots of fun as well. If you have not stopped by for a visit do that now. PLEASE!!!!! http://monkeymommy08.blogspot.com/
  7. Now that the midle of the January is here I have not heard alot of people complain that they broke their new years resolution. Maybe its an up swing for resolutions this year. How are you doing on yours? Me, my life was such a mess that I did not even make any this year that way no fear of breaking them.

Grocery Store Savings

Don't you just hate it when you go to the super market and you find a great sale but it is on an item that will quickly go bad? Well what about freezing it. You can freeze items such as milks, butter, cheese and even fresh vegetables. So for my tip today I want to share on what to do with bell peppers.
Have you ever been at the grocery store and noticed a great sale on bell peppers and then think that you could never use that many peppers before they go bad? No worry because bell peppers can easily be frozen and stored in freezer. Simply wash, dry, remove stem and seeds and chop as desired. Pack into freezer bags or containers and freeze for up to 3 to 6 months. So the next time you need diced peppers for a special dish you are cooking simply pull them out of the freezer and they are ready to go.

Aloha Friday

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays Kailani take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, ask a simple question for others to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

Well, it is warmer now but for a bit we were so cold, my water froze and we learned how to deal without an oven. I think we have come a long ways to make ends meet and to take care of our family without all that we had. So for today Aloha Friday my question is
What do you think is your best strength in life? Whether it be faith, family or experiences I would love to hear.

FlowerDuet review and Giveaway

The FlowerDuet is the great floral instructional series DVDs that will teach anyone that wants to learn how to make your own flower arrangements. The DIY flower instructions are easy to follow and have fun while learning. FlowerDuet will take you step by step and teach you how to create variations of European Wrap or Hand Tied Bouquets that others will not believe you made them yourself. The wonderful flower arrangements are perfect for any occasion.

Flowers to my family have always been very important. For anniversary's, birthdays and holidays I can remember my family receiving flowers from friends and family. We believe in having flowers through out the house because they are signs of comfort. So to be able to create such wonderful arrangements is a dream come true. The price of these wonderful flower arrangements that are put together by professionals have been going up so the little fact that we can create our own and save money makes the dream of a budget look great as well.

The Flowerduet wanted to offer individuals the chance to learn to make these wonderful flower arrangements at home. The DVD put out by Flowerduet contains the best parts of the popular workshops that they conduct in person. Even if you have no experience at all in flower arranging you have no worries because the DVDs are designed for beginners as well as for those who just need a bit of a refresher.

When my daughter was planning her wedding she knew that she had a short budget to work with and that alot of the work she would have to do herself. She did a beautiful job but one place that we did have to spend money was on her flowers. If we had the flowerduet I am sure that it would have helped us save money as my daughter catches on fast and would have saved money and had very pretty flowers. If you are making wedding plans perhaps you should consider the FlowerDuet which teaches you to create bridal bouquets, hand tied posies, and centerpieces.

Have you ever noticed how the flowers at florist look better than what we sometimes buy ourselves? Well the FlowerDuet DVD will also help to teach you how to choose fresh flowers and optimize their vase life. This would be great because I love fresh flowers but they just seem to go so fast. I would love to be able to extend the life span of them.

Buy: you can purchase your DVD at their website
http://www.flowerduet.com/

Win: one of Annies Home readers can have the chance to win their own DVD and it is very simple (1) head over to the FlowerDuet website and let me know something I did not share with you and (2) follow my blog and (3) subscribe to my blog.

that is it only 3 entries into this giveaway Please include email with the comment or have on blog Starts now and ends January 29, 2009

we received a disc of our own the review

Friday Fragments

Like sands through the hour glass....these are the fragments of our lives.
** It is such a great morning here, lovely warm day with no rain or snow in sight. Wow what a difference today is than a week ago.
** We were woke up very early in the morning when I received a phone call from my daughter Princess had fallen and busted her mouth open. All I could hear my husband calling was take her to the ER. My hubby is a great man but goes a bit spastic when something bad happens so I never know what to think. After hanging up and telling me about it the phone rang again it was my daughter and all was going to be o.k. it was not as bad as it seemed. Thank goodness, but also thank God that my daughter feels that she can call in the middle of the night no matter what the problem. This is the kind of open relationship I strive to have with all of my children.
** The farm is dead, well at least my farm on farmville that I played on facebook probably is. I do not find the time to travel to facebook as much as I once did. So to all you farmers that helped me in the past thank you and sorry that I could not keep up with my crops.
** The terrible events in Haiti and the earthquake have helped me to put my life in order a bit. The things that we complained so much about are pale compared to their problems. Weather is year round and whether it is too hot or too cold it seems there is always something to complain about.
** The flu seems to be going around in these areas. Yesterday I had it and I hope that my children and husband do not get it but just received a phone call that my sister in law and her kids are sick. Sorry sis I did not mean to share all that I had but then we are family. LOL.
what are your fragments in life? Want to share? Head over to the blog Half Past Kissin' Time

Thankful Thursday What are you thankful for

Tonight as I sit here I am thankful that my family is all doing well, that my children are in college and doing well and that my mom and brother are doing great in their small business. I am thankful that I have a wonderful partner on the walk through life, that with him we created a lovely family that is strong, and I am thankful that no matter the years every day seems new in the walk through life with my husband. I am thankful that Princess has a set of wonderful parents that take care of her so well that I never need to worry, that my house is warm and my feet are not cold and that the bathroom water is fixed. I am thankful that I could take a warm shower, that my daughter who worried she would never make friends or find a boyfriend is starting to have a wonderful social life and that my son who dated a girl for many years is still flirtatiously in love with her. I am thankful that my son who will graduate from high school has decided to evaluate his own choices, that my youngest daughter decided to try college rather than going straight to work and that my middle daughter is doing well in school and is learning that their are choices in life that must be taken if she is to be successful. I am thankful that my eldest son is doing well and is making choices himself regarding friends, that my oldest daughter sees that God has called her to be a stay at home mom, and that her husband sees it that way as well and has a great job so that he can provide for all three of them.

With all that I am thankful for I must say there is one above all else that I am thankful for. I am thankful for my heavenly father and that he makes a way for all of us if we just make the choice to believe and follow. I also know that there are things beyond gold and silver and personal pleasure that he provides for us and for that I am thankful.

Thousand Word Thursday

While the occasion for this picture may have been a somber one this is the only picture one will find all of the siblings in the same picture.

2010 Challenge from Marsha's Musings

I joined in the 2010 Challenge at Marsha's Musings and here are my answers

1.What’s one thing you could do this year to increase your enjoyment of God?

I would say I could take the time to enjoy his love and all he gives us. All to often I get quickly overwhelmed with lifes problems and do not take the time to realize what is going on around me.

2.What’s the most humanly impossible thing you will ask God to do this year?

I really do not know how to answer this. I would say that it would be to work with my younger brothers heart where he would be the father I know he can be and the husband that his wife deserves.

3.What’s the single most important thing you could do to improve the quality of your family life this year?

spend time with them, start and exercise routine for the full family

4.In which spiritual discipline do you most want to make progress this year, and what will you do about it?

Prayer, my prayer life is not as strong as it once was, while it is still very present in my life I find myself trying to fix things, worrying about things rather than taking them to my father in prayer

5.What is the single biggest time waster in your life, and what will you do about it this year?

This is a two fold answer because it is both good and bad but I spend too much time worrying about members of my family that do not want to change and I need to step back and allow them to find their own answers in life and focus on my own personal life, my children, friends and what I can do to help others that want the help

6.What is the most helpful new way you could strengthen your church?

Our church has seen many changes and I believe we need to pray for those that lead us, our youth and that the Lord will show us what we can do

7.For whose salvation will you pray most fervently this year?

There are many but I would say the closest is my younger brother and his family

8.What’s the most important way you will, by God’s grace, try to make this year different from last year?

as I said earlier my time will be spent differently

9.What one thing could you do to improve your prayer life this year?

take the time to pray is often the problem, I believe in taking everything to him and being in constant prayer but have not been living exactly that way.

10.What single thing that you plan to do this year will matter most in ten years? In eternity?

Focusing time on the young ones in the church, my family and my self in the area of health.

No Slippy Hair Clippy Review

Have you all seen my little princess? If not here take a look at my lil granddaughter that I call Princess. Princess is my only grandchild and I may be a bit partial but I think she looks like a little doll. I love to dress her up, buy dress clothes for her and just think she is a little doll. One of my favorite places to find hair clips and headbands for her is No Slippy Hair Clippy. There are many reasons that I love to shop there but one of the main reason is because of their selection. Just take a look at these wonderful clips and let me know what you think.

Look at this cute clip. In my opinion this is the perfect clip for Easter. If you are not partial to pink don't worry it comes in a couple of other colors.

I like this one because my lil princess loves to carry around purses at this age and it just seems to call out precious

Don't worry ladies they make some great ones for us as well. After all not every thing can be for the little ones. I love this one because it looks like a butterfly to me.

When my girls were young we would place clips in their hair only to watch them slide out as quick as we put them in. Their hair was so fine that it did not matter much what we tried for there was no clips that could stay in our daughters hair. Now my granddaughter does not need to go through this same game. With No Slippy Hair Clippy the clips will stay in hair without a problem allowing her, my daughter and my self to rest easy. Not only does the velvet feel soft but it helps to protect lil hands from pinches in my opinion.
