Created by Alfred Mosher Butts in 1938 the game of scrabble is a word game that uses letter tiles to create words in an attempt to reach the highest score. However, the original name of this game was Criss-Crosswords and was renamed by James Brunot who purchased the rights to manufacture the game of scrabble.



To keep up with the times the rules of Scrabble have been changed in 1953, 1976, 1989 and 1999. The game also has been produced using braille so even those with little or no sight could play. Around the world Scrabble can be found in 31 different languages. Perhaps, the game of Scrabble keeps the entire world thinking, spelling and playing



It has been estimated that every hour in a day is the start of an average of 30,000 games of Scrabble. The lineup of tiles that have been created since the beginning of the game lined up in a row would reach over 50,000 miles. Among all the Scrabble players around the world there are celebrities that love the game. These celebrities include Keanu Reeves, Madonna and Sharon Stone. How about you. do you play scrabble??
