One fun question on a trivia test I took was does the 4th of July occur around the world?? The answer is yes, it does but it is not celebrated anywhere else like it is celebrated in the United States. So Happy 4th of July to everyone most of all those that are celebrating this day as Independence day.
Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States that commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago. The date was July 4th 1776 when the Continental Congress declared the thirteen American colonies to be states of a new nation. They desired to break away from the British that ruled there. Soon after the great American Revolution would be battled
“The United States is the only country with a known birthday” — James G. Blaine
Events such as fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies will take place to day on this great day of July 4th all over the United States. Why are fireworks such a big part of the day of Independence?? This answer lays within the pages of history. John Adams desired the use of fireworks before the Declaration of Independence was even signed. As he wrote a letter to Abigail Adams on July 3, 1776 he shared a vision of the commemoration festival "with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and the illuminations from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward forever more." July 4th 1777 in Pennsylvania the recording of ringing of bells and fireworks were enjoyed. Fire works have came a long time since that first year but the meaning of celebration.
So tonight get out there and enjoy the 4th of July. If you will be celebrating be safe as there will be another 4th of July every year that we can celebrate. Take a moment today to recall all those that have protected the freedom that we enjoy and those that will not celebrate with their family as they are out there on the line protecting the reason we can celebrate the 4th of July
