Celebrate Life

To celebrate life is a great gift. It is acknowledging the life of a person who died. It is not a mourning but a rejoicing an applauding of the fact that they lived and what they did in their life. It is a "meaningful event" that can be part of a memorial or funeral service.

To celebrate ones life includes knowing the individual, their beliefs, dreams, troubles, and what they loved and brought joy to their life. The individual that passed had an impact on those that they shared a life with. Was it the strength, humor or determination that made them stand out in life.

'Celebrating Life' is where loved ones share memories together and how they affected your life. How was it that they inspired you, made you laugh and even the things that you did not like that was still part of them. All memories whether funny, sad, happy or bittersweet tell the story of who our loved one was.

There are many reasons that we should share memories

  • offers reason of who we are as well as who they were
  • shares what they loved in life whether music, reading or something else

We don't have to only remember those that have passed and celebrate their lives. We can celebrate life each and every day. Some ways to do this include:

  • each day make a list of the points of the day that are worth celebrating. What did you accomplish for family friends, or co-workers??
  • Welcome in the new day with an attitude of appreciation. Look forward to the new day that was offered you and all the possibilities that it brings.
  • Keep in mind the memories you have that make you proud. Bad times will come and go but a positive attitude will help you travel through it.
  • Be thankful for the small things in your life. The clean water, good shelter and food that you eat should never be taken for granted.
  • Enjoy life , something as simple as a chocolate bar or coke allows you to have a break and know that life is good.
