Happy Belated Birthday to GirlScouts



The inventor of the Girl Scouts, the lady that started it all was Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low was born on October 31, 1860. She grew up in Savannah, Georgia in a prominent home. She married William Mackay Low and moved to Great Britain. Following her husbands death she met the founder of the British Boy Scouts Lord Robert Balden Powell. She gathered a group of 12 girls on March 12, 1912 in her hometown of Savannah and registered the first troop of American Girl Guides. Her niece would be the first registered member of the Girl Scouts. The name of the group would be changed to Girl Scouts the in 1913. .
