Etta James was an amazing entertainer. She sang across the genres and time. Each musical piece whether it be blues, rhythm, rock and roll, soul, gospel or jazz had a piece of Etta in it. Etta entered the musical world in the mid 1950s. Songs such as Dance With Me, Henry, At Last or Tell Mama were pieces that she shared with the world. During her musical career she faced a number of personal problems that included addiction. In the late 1980s she reappeared on the stage of music with the album The Seven Year Itch

Etta James had a sound of her own in a musical world that demanded perfection. She is regarded as having bridged the gap between the rhythm and blues era into rock and roll. During her career she won six grammys and 17 Blues Music Awards. In 1993 she was nominated and inducted into the Rock & roll hall of fame. Etta was also included in the blues hall of fame as well as the grammy hall of fame. Rolling Stones ranked James as number 22 on the list of the 100 greatest singers of All Time and number 62 on the list of the 100 greatest artists.
