Happy Birthday Roald Dahl



Roald Dahl, reknown childrens author, was born today, September 13th. Each year his birthday is celebrated with a wonderful array of events on his birthday. Dahl was born in Whales in 1916 and is a British noelist, short story writer, poet, sreenwriter and fighter pilot. He has sold more than 250 million copies of his books worldwide.

Dahl served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He became a flying ace and intelligence officer. Eventually he would rise to the rank of acting wing commander. In the 1940s he would become a popular children's author as well as writing books for adults. He has been called "one of the greatest storytellers for children of the 20th century." The unexpected endings of Dahl's short stories and dark, villainous adult enemies of children in his children books help make him a writer in his own category.



Roald Dahl's books demonstrated the kind hearted and featured and warm sentiment of children. Books such as James and the Giant Peach , Charlie and Chocolate Factory, Matilda, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The BFG, The Twits help demonstrate Dahl's amazing imagination.
