The Energizer company has teamed up with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and the American Meteorological Society (AMS) to help prepare families for whatever weather situations spring, summer and hurricane seasons they may see. With my son in law working for the fire department where he works I learned quickly that firemen do not like candles. They are so easy to be knocked off and easily start fires that is why the flashlight is so important to be kept in a location that can be found easily.
A list of items to include in the Emergency Power Kit and have on hand to be prepared for weather situations include:
•Battery-powered radio or crank radio, to keep your family apprised of current weather-related news.
•Plenty of extra batteries. Energizer® Ultimate Lithium and Energizer® MAX® batteries (AA, AAA, C, D and 9-volt) provide long-lasting power before, during and after the storm. Lithium batteries have a long storage life, perform well in extreme temperatures and are perfect for use in LED flashlights and other high-tech devices, while Energizer® MAX® batteries are an ideal power source for standard flashlights and lanterns.
•Flashlight for every member of the family. Use flashlights instead of candles when the power goes out. Energizer® Weatheready™ lights feature long-lasting LED technology. With versatile flashlights and area lights, the Weatheready™line is designed to keep your family out of the dark.
•Battery-powered cell phone charger, to help keep the lines of communication open. Energizer Energi To Go® power packs help keep cell phones charged.
•Extra specialty batteries. Your health is your most important asset. Specialty batteries power critical health devices like hearing aids and blood glucose and blood pressure monitors
To make sure that you are prepared for any situation in addition to the Emergency Power Kit you should have water, non perishable food, medical records, and insurance papers. Visit the Energizer Company here to get even more great tips to be prepared

We don't have that many storms over here, but it is important for every household to have an emergency kit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by on Aloha Friday.
I have a basket ready full of items that would be needed in case of a storm for my little princess
ReplyDeleteTruthfully we never are ready & it would be great to have a premade kit.
ReplyDeleteWe have a neat gadget that is a nightlight/flashlight that stays plugged in and charged. If the power goes out it is ready for action. We had a battery operated radio, but the batteries corroded inside and we need a new one.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway, thanks.

We have several working flashlights and a couple that are flashlights/weather radios. We are certainly prepared for the time when the lights go out.
ReplyDeleteWe have an old phone that doesn't require electricity that we plug in when the power goes out.

We're not nearly as prepared as we should be, this would be a great kit to have! We have flashlights in most rooms and candles that could be lit. Plus even though our home phones wouldn't work, we would have our cell phones to use in an emergency.
ReplyDeleteWe have a large pantry that is always stocked and lots of candles and batteries. Hopefully we're ready!
ReplyDeleteWe had a storm last night! I have replaced all the batteries in the flashlights and radios. Everyone has a flashlight in their bedroom
ReplyDeleteI keep a corded phone in the basement so that even when the power goes out, we have a way to contact others. (As long as the phone line isn't cut, that is.) We keep a crank radio/flashlight combo down there too. And a large rubbermaid tub full of bottled water, blankets, granola bars and a first aid kit.
ReplyDeleteI keep flashlights and battery radios on hand...and fresh batteries. When I hear a storm coming I run a couple gallons of fresh water for drinking and I run the tub full of water for toilet flushes. I also keep a hand can opener close at hand.
ReplyDeleteI keep candles handy and I have ice packs in my freezer...that way, if we lose the freezer, I can still keep some food cold.

We live in the panhandle of Florida, and when Katrina hit we were stationed in Mississippi - so now I'm paranoid of any storm that comes through. We have a bug box that has MRE's (meals ready to eat, military use them), batteries, flashlights, plats/glasses/silverware, and now I just need to go get water and we'll be set.

Wow, I guess we're not that prepared. I know where the flashlight is located but that's all. We do have a propane gas camping stove. Our emergency plan is to meet at my parents' house if we can't be reached by phone.
