Were you aware that February 15 is the national holiday for the gumdrop? Me either until I was looking through some food trivia facts and stumbled onto the fact about gumdrops. Well to celebrate this day I thought it would be fun to honor the gumdrop with a recipe based around the gumdrom so here is a great recipe for gumdrop bread from Betty Crocker
2 1/2 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
1 cup small gumdrop, cut in half
1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired

How exciting another holiday to celebrate with great baking. The bread looks delish, so do the cupcakes.
