Frozen bevrage machines were invented by Omar Knedlik some time during the late 1950s. It was necessity that led the invention as his soda fountain broke and he had to put his soda in freezer to keep cool. This made them slushy, this was very popular with those that purchased the product. Omar decided to make a machine that would do just that make frozen slush from popular carbonated drinks. This frozen style of drink became known as the ICEE.
In 1965 the 7-eleven store made a deeal with the ICEE company. They would sell their product but under a different name and ICEE could only sell product in 7-eleven stores. The name of the drink became slurpee. This name was derived from the noise created while drinking.
Each flavor of slurpee has its own spout on the machine. Customers pour their own slurpee into the cup size of their choice. This was not always the case as in the beginning the clerk would pour the slurpee and the machine was located behind the machine.
common flavors of Slurpees include frozen cherry, coke and mountain dew While these are common flavors such as pink fink, adults only, moonshine, kissin' cousin, gully washer, sticky icky and redeye.
