Neither Snow Nor Rain ......

September 7th, 1914 New York saw the opening of the post office. It was built in 1912 and the James A Farley Post Office was opened September 7th 1914. The slogan "National Neither Snow Nor Rain Day" was also brought to attention. Over the entrance of the new central post office in New York City is an inscription:
Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
This post office has even more fame as it was featured in 1947 classic film Miracle on 34th street. The James A Farley building was officially designated a monument and testament to the political creer of the nation's 53rd Postmaster General in 1982.
