World Environment Day is a great day that we can all get together and learn about our environment. Areas are doing this through arts and crafts exhibitions, film festival, competitions, demonstration activities, drama, poetry, as well as on social media.
You may be wondering what World Environment Day or WED is The United Nations created a day to encourage a worldwide awareness and action for protection to take care of our environment. Starting in 1974 a global platform for public outreach was created that is now celebrated in over 100 countries
Attention is drawn to the fact that we can all make a change. A change to take care of our Earth in local, nationally or globally environments. It does not matter if you stand alone or join in a group. It is your choice to choose to participate what you will do. The WED theme for 2016 is 'GoWild for Life'. Attention is focused on illegal trade in wildlife. Each year along with a theme a country is selected as well. This year the country of Angola has been chosen.

This day is a new one for me. But you know, anything that helps us support--and remember to support--environmentally clean ways of living is a good thing by me.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that they pick a different place to highlight each year. Really brings each area into focus instead of just encompassing everywhere and no one really learns anything.
ReplyDeleteEvery day should be World Environmental Day is what I believe. We really need to do better than we are doing
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! There are so many things I wish were more easily accessible to go "green"!
ReplyDeleteI hate that illegal trade of wildlife is even a thing. So many people live in the moment that they don't take the time to think about the long-term impact they're having on the world.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a nice move from the United Nations. It's important to raise awareness and to let people know that we need to take good care of our surroundings. It's never too late to participate in such a beautiful event.
ReplyDeleteVery nice to have a day like this, environmental campaigns are almost forgotten. We should be caring for our environment with our little ways.

ReplyDeleteMay we take care of all that we have been given on this earth.
ReplyDeleteThis is not a much heralded day - at least not in my neck of the woods. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention. Angola is a country that I have always been intrigued by so it was interesting to read.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great strategy. Like with so many situations in life, it's about baby steps, taking one step or one day at a time, to make changes that will have long-term effects.
ReplyDeleteIt is very important for everyone of us to know more about our environment & create awareness to save it for the future & teach the same to our kids as well. A special day like this would bring more awareness hopefully.
