Kitchen Tip : Easy Food Substitutions



Have you ever been in the kitchen and you did not have the right ingredient for the recipe? What to do? What to do? Well here is an easy chart that may help the next time you run into this problem





NEED: Substitute:


1 t baking powder 1/4 t baking soda + 1/2 t cream of tartar


1 c catsup or chili sauce 1 c tomato sauce +1/2c sugar and 2 T vinegar


1 oz. chocolate 3 or 4 T cocoa + 1 T butter


1 T cornstarch 2 T flour or2 t quick cooking tapioca


3/4 c cracker crumbs 1 c bread crumbs


1 t dry mustard 1 T mustard


1 c self rising flour 1 c all purpose flour, 1/2 t salt and 1 t baking powder


1 c milk 1/2 c evaporated milk + 1/2 c water


1 large marshmallow 10 mini mallows


1/2 c brown sugar 2 T molasses in 1/2c sugar


1 c powder sugar 1 c sugar + 1 t cornstarch


1 c tomato juice 1/2 c tomato sauce + 1/2 c water
