These are like a cross between rice krispies and granola bars. this can also be played around with a bit. Change the amounts of the different dry ingredients, add fruit, change the nuts, add cinnamon, whatever you want and/or have in your pantry. It's also a great way to use up those last bits of cereal in the bag no one eats. I have used life cereal, cinnamon toast crunch, and great grains all with great results. I've also subbed caramel sauce for the honey. Try coconut and macadamia nuts for a tropical version and top with white chocolate
4 c. cheerios
1 c. oats
1 c. wheat germ
1 c. bran buds
1 c. puffed brown rice cereal
1 c. ground flax
1 c. pecans
7 oz. mini marshmallows
1 (12 oz) bag of peanut butter chips (optional)
1 1/2 c. honey
1 c. peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 (12 oz) bag chocolate or chips
Melt the chocolate chips and set aside.
In a saucepan combine the honey and peanut butter until well blended and easy to stir. Stir in the vanilla and cook a few minutes longer. Remove from the heat.
Toss everything else together in a large bowl. Drizzle with the honey sauce and stir well to combine everything. Press into a greased 13x 18 inch baking pan or a 9x13 and a 9x9. Press on the top so smooth everything out and compact. Spread with the chocolate and let set for 30 minutes.
Cut into bars and enjoy.
