Be Prepared

On Wednesday leap day February 29, 2012 a EF4 Tornado ripped through our town. It found many of us unprepared as it twisted through the 200 yard disaster zone that it created. Leaving families and homes demolished. One thing that our family did have prepared was our source to a bit of immediate help. We were lucky and were able to stay within our homes but there was no electricity , disaster everywhere, and our hopes of a natural day was destroyed as well. Some of the things to prepare so that if your family is caught in the middle of a disaster consist of eed. There are several items you will need if you are asked to evacuate. Here are some items you should consider:
  • A tank of gas
  • 3 days of food
  • Medicines
  • Items for small children like diapers, formula etc.
  • Water
  • Clothes and bedding
  • Money
  • Important documents
  • First aid kit
  • Flashlight
  • Comfort items for your children
. FEMA has a great document, Build A Kit, that you can use to get ideas for more items you may need.

  1. Sorry to hear your town was hit! I have my "kit" in the making. My husband doesn't think its that necessary but there is nothing wrong with being prepared! Prayers are being sent!
