What is the one thing that is often used the most to clean areas in the house?? I would answer this with one word ... my sponge. How often do most sponges get cleaned?? not often enough would be the true answer. Sponges should be most likely be cleaned on a daily basis. This differs from those that say that once every two weeks or even once a month is often enough. However, the truth is that a daily cleaning will keep the sponge from getting so germ ridden.
So now that we know how often we should clean our sponges how do we do it??
One of the easiest ways is to microwave the sponge. First, soak the sponge in water, wring it out, then place it in the microwave and nuke it one minute. Now use a paper towel to wipe off walls in microwave the steam should have loosened any dried on bits. Another great way to clean a sponge is via the dishwasher
Sponges can be cleaned on the top rack of the dishwasher. Set the dishwasher on the "heated dry" setting. Soak the sponge in either a glass of vinegar or bleach for 5 minutes. No dishwasher?? Make up a mix of 1/2 cup of bleach and a gallon of water and soak sponges for 5 minutes.
