January 1st is the date that many Polar Bear Plunge's are held. Participants in these events often do it to support the charity of their choice others simply do it to have some fun. The event is all about jumping into cold water. This tradition is popular in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. Sadly in this area where the temp was 3 degrees this morning and the high temperature would be 14 the Polar Bear Plunges were canceled.
Have you ever participated in a Polar Bear Plunge??

I have never done this and have no desire. I hate cold weather.
ReplyDeleteOh wow I had no idea this sort of thing happened, it would be way to cold for me that I have to admit!
ReplyDeleteI haven't ever done a polar bear plunge. I do not believe I ever will either. Brrrrr!
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who did one of these over the new year. I was so jealous that she had that much bravery!!
ReplyDeleteI've heard of this but I honestly don't think I would be brave enough! It takes not only endurance but definitely a big dose of courage too . . .
ReplyDeleteI've never participated but have seen similar events like this on tv. I can not even imagine taking the plunge. It's gotten into the single digit temperatures here and I can barely stand it :).
ReplyDeleteMe and my besties did polar bear plunge in Chicago during college on Lake Michigan. It was a freezing cold heck out an experiences.
ReplyDeleteNooo! I can't think of anything worse to do. Plunging into cold water sounds like a really bad idea.
