Cherry Winks

2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tbsp 2% milk
1 tsp vanilla
4 2/3 c. crushed cornflakes cereal, divided
1 c. chopped nuts
1/3 c. finely chopped maraschino cherries
15 maraschino cherries, cut in quarters
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside
In large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs and beat well.
Stir in milk and vanilla.
Add flour mixture and 2 2/3 cups cornflakes. Mix well.
Stir in nuts and chopped cherries.
Shape by teaspoonfuls into balls.
Roll balls in remaining 2 cups cornflakes. Place on greased cookie sheets and top each cookie with a quartered cherry.
Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned
