When we first got married, Hubby and I first both worked nights. I told him to wake me up at 5 pm I wanted to make spaghetti for din din!
ReplyDeleteHe knew I would be tired and said no.
I said, wake me up no matter what!
5pm, he woke me up! I was a Bear with a sore Butt! I went to the kitchen, opened a box of spaghetti, it spilled all over the floor! I got a dust pan and broom, and swept it into an ice cold saucepan full of water. 4 or 5 minutes later I drained it, poured cold sauce over it and told my NEW hubby he was going to eat EVERY bite! (ewwww!) He said NO I am not! And I went back to bed! hahahaha
Our 25th Anniversary is April 25th! hahaha That is THE Worst thing I have ever done to him! hahahahh

I love the episode of I Love Lucy where she goes to the Brown Derby and ends up behind a fanous celebrity and is spying and then has to pretend to be eating spaghetti. So when I was small I decided I wanted to do see how much spaghetti I could shove in my mouth like Lucy. So when my mom cooked some spaghetti I sat down and started twirling it and shoving it in my mouth. Boy did I get in trouble especially since that was dinner. BUt it was fun. :)

The only reason this is funny because I cannot believe that I went out and bought one-The famous Pasta Express where you pour boiling water in the thing with your pasta and it cooks perfect pasta. Perfect? I think not! It was all clumped together and pure starch slime. It was a total joke. Ha Ha!

ReplyDeleteI was told that you can tell that spaghetti is done when you throw it at the fridge and it sticks. One night I took a piece and threw it..it stuck and fell to the floor. My husband wanted to try..same thing. We started laughing and kept throwing to see who could get it to stick. Finally, a piece stuck and stayed..dinner was ready! We were laughing so hard.

A funny story: When my cousin first got married, she invited some of us over for a spaghetti dinner. There were only 6 of us, including her and her husband. She had never made spaghetti before, and she said she didn't know how many noodles to cook. She judged the amount by what it looked like dry, and when we arrived, she had 2 huge bowls full of cooked spaghetti noodles. She had made 4 pounds of the noodles!
ReplyDeletePasta that cooks in 3 minutes.. Sign me up. I would love to try the Fiesta Fetticuine, and the Egg Linguine. Oh all of them. They all sound terrific.

When my daughter wa in headstart she came home with a picture frame decorated with alaphabet pasta, which I of course oohed and ahhed over. She was so proud she insisted on getting a box of pasta and making one for nanna too. So we did and the next day we delivered it to a thrilled nanna. After we got home she took her nap and I started a soup for dinner...to which I added the rest of the pasta. When she sat down to eat she burst into tears! She was sure nanna didn't like it so I put it into the soup! We had to return to nannas to check before she would eat her soup! Though we've had to reglue many times both nanna and I still display them!

It was my introduction to gnocchi which still to this day is one of my favorites. *Thanks* for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI was making pasta in a box and was really, really tired. I opened the box, dumped the pasta into the boiling water, stirred, set the timer and left. I came back to find a lovely pot of finished pasta - and the sauce package nicely boiled as well. Ew.

I remember when I was about five years old, I used to love watching my gramma make homemade pasta and homemade sauce. I used to love to watch her making it. She was from Italy and she used to hang the pasta that she made on a thick cord that she had strung up.
