June is national fresh fruit and vegetable month. The reason is because in many states it is the time of year perfect for growing crops. An abundance of fresh produce is available locally and most likely in your area. Have you checked out the local farmers market. Thus the perfect time to increase your daily consumption of fresh produce.
Fruit and vegetables are important components for the human body. Offering nutrients including calcium, fiber, folate, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, vitamins A and C.
June welcomes summer in with an abundance of produce. The types of fresh fruits and veggies often available in June include apricots, blueberries, cantaloupe, cherries, corn, kiwi, lettuce, mangoes, strawberries, swiss chard, watermelon and zucchini
Fruit Salsa Recipe
- 3 kiwi, peeled, diced
- 1 pint strawberries, diced
- 1 pint bluberrries
- 1 apple, diced
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 1/2 lime, juiced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
- Combine kiwi, strawberries, blueberries and apple in large bowl.
- Whisk lemon juice, lime juice and brown sugar in small bowl. Drizzle over fruit and stir to coat
