November is National diabetes awareness month. Diabetes is a fairly common but also death warranting disease. I myself live with diabetes and battle with it daily. While it affects masses of individuals it is one that can be controlled by living conditions, diet and exercise. The American Diabetic Foundation estimates that 30 million adults and children have been diagnosed with diabetes and even more have pre-diabetic symptoms for type two diabetes.
The American diabetes Association dreams of a life free of diabetes and all of its burdens. It all starts with raising awareness. There are lots of ways you help draw awareness some of them include
wear blue on Fridays in support of diabetes awareness
participate in fundraiser walk
write hope on your hand and share on social network statuses
I wasnt aware that its national diabetes awareness month, so thanks for spreading the awereness Angie! Smh i am wearing blue, so at least I will now consciously send positive vibes to all battling this affliction!
ReplyDeletethank you for taking time and reading my post, as well as wearing blue, I hope you share what you learned with someone else that where the awareness begins
DeleteI had no idea that it was National Diabetes month--and I am a Type 2 Diabetic. Luckily I am able to keep it under control with diet alone-yes it is possible!
ReplyDeleteyes I know it is possible, I have lived the last 10 years type 2 diabetic and struggle with diet and exercise with medication so far not on insulin. Keep up the good work
DeleteAwesome that you were aware of this day and to share it with us! Diabetes is no joke! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou are exactly right thanks for leaving such a great comment diabetes is no joke and the reason I am aware of it is because I live life with type 2 diabetes
DeleteMy daughter and myself are both type 1 diabetics. I am 46 and was diagnosed at the age of 19 months. My daughter is almost 21 and was diagnosed at 7 years. It is a daily struggle. Everything effects blood sugars, not just what you eat. A common cold, moods, sleep schedules, exercise, monthly cycles, etc and so on.
ReplyDeleteIt is manageable but costs at least 400 per month after insurance!
We need a cure! Thank you for sharing and spreading the word!
thank you for sharing your story as well, good luck to you and your daughter thank you for thanking me for posting as well as leaving a great comment
DeleteThank you for this post! My grandmother had diabetes, and my dad has it, as well. So far I've been able to keep healthy and away from it - I'm thankful for that! Thank you for bringing awareness!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the post. I was certainly not aware that it was Diabetes month. I don't have anyone in my family with diabetes, but I know many people who are. My thoughts go out to everyone with diabetes this month.
