The UVC light in the pocket purifier kills the germs contained on the item. There can be as many as 25,000 bacteria germs per square inch of item. The UVC light kills the DNA of bacteria and prevent them for spreading. I am not always that scientific I was not for sure what UVC light was so did a bit of research and found this definition of UVC
