Tell Me A Story

I have for a long time been a fan of tall tales, fables and folk tails. All of the three genres share lots of fun, suspense and a great time to share thoughts and feelings. I love the wonderful stories that can be found on Tell Me A Story. I love the wonderful soft female voices full of suspense and wonder that tell the stories. On this CD you will find the stories:
  • The Cleverest Tune, Great Britain
  • The Goddess and the Ogre, Cambodia
  • Whisker of the Lioness, Ethiopia
  • The Lady and the Judge, Turkey
  • The Reindeer Maiden, Siberia
  • Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind, USA

The Tell Me a Story Women of Wonder CD is wonderful for all children and adults alike. Homeschooling can get great use out of them as well. Exposing children to stories from other countries besides their own can open discussions to wonderment about what those other countries are like.

If you would love to purchase the wonderful Tell Me A Story Women of Wonder CD you can purchase this at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/friedmanhall3

Saturday Photo Hunt: High School Band banner

I took this picture at the homecoming parade partially because it is the wonderful town I am from and partially becuase I went to high school here. Best of all I took it because I thought it would come in to use on my blog somewhere and guess what it did The theme of Saturday Photo Hunters is words.

Bulldogs Football

This is a picture of the Bulldogs running down the field during a recent football game.
The theme at round robin photo challenge is motion and I thought this picture met the theme great.

Fall Poem

Poem I found on a website today all I know is that it was authored by Kristy P I hope you enjoy as we always love the fall weather as a family and get out and about to enjoy the many family activities

Fall

Rustle, bustle the leaves are falling
Just around the bend winter is calling
But before that it's time for fall
It's a time when leaves change, on every tree small or tall
There is color on every tree
There is color as far as the eye can see
Some places there is color scattered here and there
Some places there is color scattered everywhere
There is color far and wide
There's no place to go fall cant hide
But the fall colors won't last
Because winters almost here and coming fast

Aloha Friday

The blog An Island Life host a weekly meme Aloha Friday In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

Recently on the news I heard a story about a mother who was ill and went to the doctor only to find out that she had just a short period of time to live. This is not the first case that I have heard this and have actually known a few different people faced with this fate. One just laid around and moped and the other did all sorts of things that she never took the time or money to do before.

My question today is:
if you have just a short period of time to live what would you do with your time?

Boiled Bacon and Cabbage

On a fall day like this my husband was reminded of a old favorite his grandmother would make.

Boiled Bacon and Cabbage

2 1/2 pounds bacon collar of
1 medium cabbage

Directions
Ensure cut of pork is about four inches by four inches by four or five inches.

It does not have to have been salted first, but if you want to approximate the taste of the real Irish thing, put it down in brine for a day or two, then (when ready to cook it) bring to a boil first, boil about 10 minutes, change the water, and start the recipe from the following point. .

Place the joint in a pot, cover with cold water and bring to the boil, Remove the scum that floats to the surface.

Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours (or 30 minutes per pound).

Cut cabbage into quarters and add to pot.

Cook gently for about 1/2 hour, or until cabbage is cooked to your liking. (Test constantly: don't overdo it!)

Drain, and serve with potatoes boiled in their jackets, and a sharp sauce -- mustard or HP sauce.

Green Cricket review

GreenCricket is one of those great companies that I admire. It is the type of company that cares about its customers, the product it creates and the earth that they are located on. GreenCricket is located in Toronto and began their adventure in early 2008. GreenCricket's goal is to bring quality products that are convenient, meaningful and fun. The best part is that customers are loving the products GreenCricket is selling. Products sold by GreenCricket are items for the spa, baby, outdoor, pets, personal care, yoga and apparel. GreenCricket has set down strict green guidelines that the products sold must meet. Susan Mey, the leader of GreenCricket, realizes that customers do not always have time to research or seek out the products that are best for them, their family and the earth. That is why she wants GreenCricket to research the products customers request, need and want. GreenCricket online site will share the reason as to why certain products are chosen to be sold as well.

We received this charming tea set. Just perfect for Princess and her first tea party do you not think. Whether she will be imagining enjoying a cup of green tea or playing dress up with the dollies she is sure to have tons of fun. Green Cricket believes this tea set worthy of being sold on their website. The tea set is made from all Eco-Friendly materials and meets the FDA spec for food contact. Ever wonder about all those milk cartons that are thrown into the dump every day? Well this great green tea set sold by GreenCricket is made up by using those empty milk cartoons. The tea set conforms to the requirements of ASTM standard consumer safety specification on toy safety.
My personal thoughts on the tea set is that I love it. As all of my readers know Princess is top in my book and only the best for her. The thickness of the plates and cups and the chubbiness of the tea pot will allow Princess to easily play with it. I also feel great because of it meeting all the safety standards. I love the green products in today's world. When my children were young we were not so aware of these terrific products.
You can purchase any of the great green products by visiting the GreenCricket website

Psalms 1: A word filled post

I love this scene as the sun is going down and peace is all around. As a kid I loved to go to the rez and sit and look at the water. Peaceful time to talk to the Lord above.

HighSchool Homecoming and Football Pictures

Last week I shared with you that it would be quite busy because of all the homecoming festivities. Well here are just a few pictures to show what we enjoyed that day. Here is my son sitting sideways on the wagon that carried the football players.

Here they are playing the football game. It was very exciting. The one in the blue jean shorts standing on the sidelines is my son. He has been named the do it all coach helper since at this time he is out of football

Here is a picture of the score board toward the end of the game. Yes we won 27 to 13. Yeah I was so happy for the boys.

Gratituesday

This Tuesday finds my heart full of gratitude. I am so thankful for all that has been done for me and my family. The Lord provides in mysterious ways and many of which we are not even aware of as of yet. We have been learning in church about Elijah and how God is faithul and God is good all the time. Even in time of sadness and sorrow there is always a reason to praise our Lord.

This week I am thankful that my son has a leader in his life and that because of this leader he is becoming a leader himself. Yesterday afternoon in front of 60+ peers my son stood up and shared his testimony. Praise God!!!! This is the young man who at 7 years old was not talking well and was told he may never learn to read or write. God knew better and my son is being used as insturment of the Lord and through him is witnessing to others.

My heart was delighted as I was able to see my granddaughter Princess this week. We had such a great visit. I love it when she says Nana I love you. I love her with all my heart. I bought her a purse that she knew how to place it on her shoulder and carry it around. Her mom does not carry a purse but her Nana does and she wanted to be like nana. Makes my heart feel good to know that God provided a little bundle like Princess for this family to love.

Eden Fantasys giveaway

The following post is not appropriate for all readers. Young children and those that feel that the subject of human sexuality is not an appropriate topic should be aware of this caution.

One topic of conversation that nearly always takes place in secret and behind closed doors is the subject of sex. Of course you may discuss this subject with your closest friend but often the main way of learning about the subject of sex is through experiences. I believe that sexual experiences should only be invested between a married couple man and woman. Often many questions arise and these questions can be hard to discuss or even bring up. Wouldn't it be great if there was a book that helped you gain knowledge about those sexual questions you may have. Well Eden Fantasy's carries such books. Opening the door to a conversation that may never be brought out in the open is now available in many different books that Eden Fantasy's has available on their website.

The Little (bit naughty) Book of Sex is one of these books. This book available at Eden Fantasy's is the just the right pocket or purse size book. This book can be shared with your lover and allows you to discuss sex with more of a freer conversation flow. This no holds barred little hand book may just guide you and your spouse into a life of great sex. If the light seems to have gone out a bit, if the spice seems to have faded away this little guide book from Eden Fantasy's may be all that you need. Offering not only advice but pictures as well the little book may be exactly what your relationship needs. The goal of this little book of sex is to maximize pleasure of sex for both players from the start to the end. Issues that are not commonly discussed such as sex toys, fantasies and games are also discussed in this book.

Would you love to win a copy of this book The Little (bit naughty) Book of Sex? Well Drew at Eden Fantasy's would love to give one of Annies Home the chance to own their own book.

To enter the contest you must visit Eden Fantasy's and let me know what book or game you find the most interesting.

PruneBelly Syndrome

Before meeting a fellow blogger on facebook I had never heard of the disease known as Prune Belly Syndrome. It seems that a fellow blogger mom has a son who suffers from this disorder. Prune Belly Syndrome if you are like me and had either never heard of it or are just not sure what it is a rare birth disorder that only affects like 1 in every 40,ooo births. Prune Belly Syndrome affects primarily males and affects the abdominal muscles of the child. This disorder not only can affect the abdominal muscles but also the kidneys, heart, lungs, bones and hearing as well as affecting other areas as well. Many of the children born with Prune Belly do not make it to see their second birthday. If the child does make it past that point they often see many days of hospitals and doctors. As I said one of my dear blogger friends made me aware of the Prune Belly Syndrome and to help make others aware she has dedicated a cool blog to help spread awareness. Find out more at the Prune Belly Syndrome blog page
