Kentucky Derby Will Not Be Ran In May

May is the month when a large event occurs in Kentucky and is known as the Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky Derby is a horse race held annually in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. While in every other year the first Saturday in May is the official date of the derby as we all know 2020 has thrown many of us for a loop. Due to the Corona virus the Kentucky Derby will occur in September 2020.

The nickname "The Run for the Roses" has been given to the Kentucky Derby because of the roses that are lavishly draped over the winner so many that it resembles a blanket of roses. Many have also said to hold on to your hats as the two minutes after the start of the race will go quickly and the race ends even quicker. It is the first of three races that helps determine a great crown winner.

Prior to 2020 the race has ran as scheduled for the past 144 years. Nothing before the Corona virus not even the World Wars or the Great Depression has cancelled or changed the date of the race.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 146th Kentucky Derby was rescheduled from May 2, 2020, to September 5, 2020
