This date in history

On  this date in 1620 the ship known as the Plymouth sailed from England to America. Aboard was 102 men, women and children. The ship named after the port in Plymouth England where it departed would head off on the long journey to the New World. Perhaps some were scared but many were fascinated to see what lay beyond and eagerly waited to welcome their new freedoms.

The individuals aboard the Mayflower that day would be the first immigrants to the New Land. These immigrants would help pave the way to the millions that would follow. An agreement to settle in Virginia had been reached before the Pilgrims took voyage. For the next 66 days the men, women and children would live together before landing at Plymouth Rock on December 21st 1621.
