More than 24 million Americans age 40 and older suffer with cataracts. Thus making the subject of cataracts a theme that deserves much awareness.
At a certain age many realize that they need to have their eyes checked for cataracts Cataracts affect more than just adults. Children and young adults can have cataract of the eye as well. Risk factors of younger individuals getting cataracts include:

Cataract surgery is one of the most common surgeries in the U.S. Within 30 minutes the surgery is over and most individuals can resume normal activities fairly quickly
To prevent age related cataract of the eye one should
- avoid smoking
- reduce exposure to U.V. rays
- eating healthy foods
- wearing proper eye protection
