Orphans Day

November plays host to World Orphans Day that occurs on the second Monday of the month. It is a day to bring awareness to orphans and the lives they live around the world. Displace children are considered orphans no matter where they are being raised. Thus World Orphan day is meant to offer hope, support and funding

More than 150 million orphans worldwide is a large number. This number is because of many sources including war, famine, natural disasters and AIDS. Orphans around the world face poverty and hunger. Most orphans are never adopted leaving them to face hunger and homelessness daily.

World Orphan Day was created by Cheryl Roberson Piggott and the Stars Foundation. This holiday is observed in more than 50 countries with money for funding being raised as well.

  1. Thanks for posting about World Orphans Day. This year, Dolly Parton has donated a song to us to help the orphans! God bless you for spreading the word. Cheryl Robeson Piggott
