Donate Now Hungry People Depend On You

Hunger is a never end event. It is day in and day out and if it were not for those that donated individuals would go hungry. It seems that many individuals will donate more in the fall and winter. One reason may because of the holiday spirit and others may be that good will and knowing there are some going hungry in the cold.

Along with donations of food being needed there are a few other things needed as well:

  • toothbrush / toothpaste
  • soap
  • lotion
  • shampoo / conditioner
  • socks and underwear
  • chapstick
  • female products


Some of the top food products needed most at food banks include

  • applesauce preferably in plastic jars. Perfect for quick snack and offers fiber and vitamin C Applesauce also keeps well on the food bank shelves. 
  • beans in can offers protein and fiber. Beans are both filling and nutritious
  • canned chicken and fish makes for easy and quick meal. Both are high in protein and non perishable. Canned tuna and salmon offer omega 3 fatty acid as well. 
  • Canned meat such as SPAM, Ham, or other meat products are perfect for on the go meals, offers protein and fills an empty belly. 
  • canned veggies are always in high demand. They have a lasting life 
  • crackers are perfect alone as a snack or team up with canned meats to make a great snack. Shelf stable and portable makes perfect for on the go. 
  • canned, dried or single serve cups make great snacks and provide nutrition and fiber. 
  • granola bars perfect on the go snack. 
  • Instant Mashed Potatoes last longer and require minimal tools and ingredients to whip up. 
  • pasta is a staple of food banks. Easy to turn into a meal 
  • Peanut butter a popular item at food banks is high in protein 


Food Banks are open to donations all the time but there are a few things that they cannot use. These include: 

  • perishable foods
  • glass or plastic jars of baby food
  • expired food
  • food without labels
  • homemade food 
  • packages are falling apart
