Celiac Disease


Have you taken note of all the gluten free products on the market these days?? Gluten, is a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. Years ago little was known about gluten or simply did not think it was that serious. Now days, gluten sensitivity is more common and gluten free products are very much desired. Moreover, diseases such as celiac are searching for more gluten free.

Not all gluten sensitivity is celiac disease but if it is the immune reaction after eating gluten is very much present. The act of eating gluten triggers an immune response in the small intestine. The reaction eventually damages the small intestine lining and prevents absorption of nutrients. This damage to the intestine leads to diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, bloating and anemia.
