ADHD awareness

One of the most common childhood neurodevelopmental disorders is ADHD. The problem is that this disorder is misunderstood, stigmatized and denied as a legitimate disability. Those that have never dealt with ADHD, or seen the impact it can leave on someone you love or the family with a member that has ADHD then you may not understand the true impact of ADHD The issue with ADHD not being understood is that many individuals and families will not seek help as they are at times unwilling to share the challenges they face daily.

First lets all understand that ADHD is real. IT IS NOT FAKE!! Individuals with ADHD are not just lazy.

Major medical psychological and educational organizations, including the National Institutes of Health and U.S. Department of Education have recognized ADHD as a legitimate diagnosis. Previously known as ADD or attention deficit disorder is biologically based. There is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Symptoms of ADHD include inattention, impulsiveness and hyperactivity. Individuals with ADHD find issues in all aspects of daily life. Time management and organizational skills are two common symptoms

ADHD is not something that can simply be "grown out of " Nearly 2/3 of children who suffer with ADHD in childhood will carry it through to adolescence and half of these children will not see the disorder go away in adulthood. Many adults with ADHD are undiagnosed and only 1 in 4 ever seek treatment. Adults with ADHD likely have mood disorders, anxiety and substance abuse. These individuals offer have issues with their job or career, problems in areas of legal and financial problems and struggle with personal relationships

Girls and boys both equally can possess ADHD. The gender does not make a difference in symptoms caused by disorder. However, the fact remains that boys are often diagnosed over boys for having ADHD
