Get Ready For A Road Trip



Many will be hitting the road soon perhaps on the last adventure of Summer '18 or whatever reason that you may be traveling the road. Before you go here are some last minute tips:

  • Be sure your car is in tip top condition. Tune ups, oil changes, battery checks, and tire rotations go a long way toward preventing breakdowns. Make sure that your car is in good condition to travel. To ensure this schedule a preventive maintenance checkup with your mechanic right away. 
  • Vehicles can be recalled and thus need to be repaired. Check periodically to make sure a vehicle has not been recalled for safety reasons. The NHTSA'S VIN will relate information on recalled vehicles on care 15 years old and newer. 
Basic safety checks should be completed before going on a road trip  The car tires, lights, cooling system, fluid levels, belts and hoses, wiper blades and air conditioning. One important feature of cars is inside of the, the seatbelts. Be sure that all passengers wear seat belts every trip , every time. Be the good example and buckle up as well.

There are some important steps to take when you have children as passengers as well. Their safety is important as well. First make sure all children 13 and younger ride in back seat. Car seats and booster seats should be installed correctly and should be age appropriate for young passengers as well. Children should never be left unattended in or around a vehicle.
