Chocolate Pecan Pie

3 tbs. butter, melted
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbs. flour
1 tbs. cocoa powder (optional)
1/4 c. maple syrup
2 tbs. bourbon (optional)
1 1/2 c. toasted pecans (I like to use big, roughly broken up pieces)
3/4 c. dark chocolate chips
Pinch of salt
Pie crust

Preheat oven to 340°.  That's correct, three-hundred-and-forty.  Mix the ingredients into a bowl in this order:  brown sugar, flour, cocoa powder, eggs, maple syrup, bourbon.  Add melted butter.  Mix in pecans, chocolate chips, and salt.  Pour into pie shell.  Bake on a tray or sheet for 45-50 minutes.  Serve with ice cream.  Thank the pecan gods and pray that next year's nut season is bountiful.
