Water Lilies

These beautiful lilies are known as water lilies. Water lilies grow in still waters throughout the tropical and temperate world. They start beneath the soil at the bottom of the water and have long, tubular stems that bring oxygen from the waxy green leaves that float on the surface to the underwater parts of the plant. The green leaves are round and may be notched like the classic lily. Flowers can be a variety of colors and often float on top or are raised above the water on a stiff stem.

The yellow pond lily are native to western part of North America

The White, red, or blue water lily is native to India and Australia. Water lilies are the birth flowers of July. The white water lily is national flower of Bangladesh. The blue water lily represent Sri Lanka. These flowers may also be white, purple, or red
