Chores In the Garden During June

There is always something to do in the garden. All season long the work goes on. Some of the areas that can use work in June include

  • Mowing the grass, it will start growing faster this month. The chance of drying out may happen as well. While there is plenty of rain to help water the yard now that may change.
  • If you still have a flowers to put in the garden then June is the perfect time. The frost is all gone and it time to get those plants outside in the yard and garden.
  • For those flowers that are all ready had their season it is time to deadhead. This will help encourage growth and help them continue to come back
  • Time to stake those climbing plants
  • Plant those veggie plants you may have been waiting on. Cucumbers, strawberries and others can now be planted in the ground.
  • Time to plant pumpkins and squash as well. Plant them now in June , they will be just in time for a Halloween harvest

The weather will be warming up so try to give your garden a good drink of water at least once or twice a week. Hanging baskets will also need watering at least once a day.

Summer time and the heat that comes along with it also attracts unwanted pests. Be on the look out for caterpillars and aphids
